- In 1993 Al-Qaeda tried to blow up the World Trade Center with a car bombing in the parking garage, the atempt failed and did not damage the strucher of the building.

- A successful atempt was made, On September 11, 2001 the United States was attacked by Al-Qaeda. Two planes flew into the World Trade Center and one into the Pentagon and the United 93 airplane crash in PA.

- After burning for 59 minutes, the South Tower collapsed, followed a half-hour later by the North Tower, with the attacks on World Trade Center resulting in 2,750 deaths.

The United States was thirsting for revenge and launched a military attack into Afghanistan. The US claimed that this attack was launched for revenge and former President George W. Bush said "America will never run... And we will always be grateful that liberty has found such brave defenders." These words were uttered in response to the 9/11 attack and the invasion.

- He also stated "America will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail."

- The following were the objectives of the Bush Administration:
 1. Defeat terrorists and destroy thier organizations
2. Identify, locate and destroy the terrorists and thier organizations.
3. Deny sponsorship, support and sanctuary to terrorists.
4.  Diminishing the underlying conditions that terrorists seek to exploit.
5. Defend US citizens' interests at home and abroad.
